Properties/Uses: Antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antimicrobial, antiviral, fungicide, sedative, aphrodisiac, astringent, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, deodorant, diuretic, febrifuge, insecticide, vulnerary, venous, lymphatic decongestant. Patchouli essential oil may be used to treat varicose veins, venous congestion, cellulite, haemorrhoids, oedema, poor circulation, menstrual cramps, reduced sex drive, skin conditions, fungal and parasitic skin infections, tinea, ringworms, sores, fissures, injuries, scars, skin inflammation, aging skin, itchy skin, acne, cracked or chapped skin, allergic inflammation.
Energetics: Patchouli essential oil may be used to help relieve anxiety, depression, confusion, poor concentration, mood swings, hyperactivity, irritability, insomnia, restlessness, disconnection, overthinking and obsessive thoughts. It may help to promote feelings of stability, grounding, strength, harmony, balance, centring, focus and cognitive flexibility, sacredness and enlightenment.
It is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing, but the smell of patchouli oil may be a little persistent for some people and large doses may cause loss of appetite in some individuals.
