Properties/Uses: Carminative, expectorant, antispasmodic. May be sued to treat the symptoms of muscular spasms, respiratory conditions, cramps, menstrual issues, headaches, mental and physical fatigue.
Energetics: Holy basil has a relaxing, calming and soothing effect when inhaled therefore helping to reduce stress, anxiety and tension. It's warm, spicy aroma helps to uplift the mind and body and may help us with creative pursuits by stimulating and energising our focus and minds.
Use: direct inhalation, diffuser, oil burner.
Safety: Tisserand & Young state - Hazards: May contain methyleugenol; drug interactions; may inhibit blood clotting; skin sensitisation (moderate risk); mucous membrane irritation (low risk). Avoid during pregnancy and while breast feeding. The IRFA recommend a maximum dermal limit of 0.05%.
