Plant Part Used: Balsam that has been extracted from the Myroxylon pereira tree

Aromatic Description: Sweet, rich, warm, vanilla-like, balsamic, soft

Colour/Characteristics: Yellow to brown viscous oil, almost solid at room temperature

Main Chemical Constituents: benzyl benzoate, trans-benzyl cinnamate, trans-nerolidol, cinnamic acid

Blends Well With: rose, jasmine, frankincense, benzoin, clove, cinnamon, ginger, labdanum, lavender, bergamot, sweet orange, ylang ylang

Properties/Uses: Antibacterial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, parasiticide, stimulant, promotion of granulation process, skin cell regenerator.  May be used to help treat skin conditions, rashes, wounds, ulcers, cuts, sores, eczema, dry skin, pruritus, haemorrhoids, respiratory conditions, coughs, bronchitis, dandruff

Energetics: May help to relieve feelings of nervous tension & stress. May also help to promote feelings of safety and being nurtured. And to promote sensuality & confidence. 

Use: Diffuser, direct inhalation, oil burner, oil vaporiser, diluted in a bath, compress, massage oil, ointment, cream. 

Safety:  No contraindications known.  Tisserand & Young state there is low risk for skin sensitisation and the maximum dermal limit they recommend is 2.0%.

Conservations Status: Listed as least concern (decreasing) on the IUCN red list
