Properties/Uses: Analgesic, antiviral, antispasmodic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, vermifuge, stimulant, antitussive, decongestant, expectorant, mucolytic, carminative, digestive, cholagogue, anti-emetic, antidepressant, anitneuralgic, vasoconstrictor, emmenagogue.  Peppermint essential oil may be used to help treat sluggish circulation, varicose veins, digestive issues, travel sickness, gastrointestinal spasms, stomach upsets, colic, cramping, halitosis, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, post-surgical nausea, muscular spasms, muscular stiffness, muscular aches and pains, tight muscles, rheumatism, fibromyalgia, sprains, arthritis, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, bursitis, bruises, migraines, neuralgia, shingles, dysmenorrhea, painful cramps, bronchitis, sinusitis, coughs, head cold, common cold, congestion and flus.

Energetics: Peppermint essential oil may be used to help relieve mental fatigue, fatigue, inability to focus, low self-esteem, nervous depression, lethargy and apathy.  It may be used to help inspire enthusiasm, aid concentration, clear the mind, stimulate, invigorate, promote alertness, inspires, promotes insight, increase self-esteem, increases awareness and perception.

Safety: Non-toxic, non-irritant, may be occasionally sensitising.  It can cause irritation to the skin and mucus membranes and should be kept well away from the eyes. It is recommended that peppermint oil should not be used on young children as there is a potential risk for respiratory issues.  Tisserand & Young state that peppermint oil should be avoided in cases of cardiac fibrillation and in individuals with G6PD deficiency.  Has GRAS status.
